Create a 12″ x 12″ sampler that incorporates fibre, yarn, fabric, beads, buttons, feathers, paper and more. Practice various weaving stitches such as basketweave and twill, tapestry techniques including soumak and tufting, plus, crochet and embroidery stitches like chain stitch and spiders’ web as well as beading embellishments. Loaded with techniques… it’s the ultimate mixed media fibre art creation, perfect for a wall hanging, bag face or vessel. Bring: Trinkets or momentos you want to include in your piece & basic sewing kit. Kit $20 includes loom.

Learn to Hand Paint Yarn with Gail Stiver at Creativ Festival

Create your own unique and beautiful hand dyed yarn! Using basic acid dyeing (vinegar) techniques you will take home a pretty ‘watercolour’ skein and a ‘self-striping’ skein that creates stripes as you knit. We will be using yarns made of luxury alpaca, merino and silk. Bring: 3 pair latex or vinyl gloves & wear short sleeves. Kit $25
