Slip Sliding Away- Advanced Beginner to Intermediate

Powell, Denise - Slip Sliding Away_700x733There are many types of surface textures available in knitting, from the smooth surface of stocking stitch or the openness of lace, to the great depth of plaited cables. We’ll concentrate on texture that is added through the use of slipped stitches including those extended and carried up more than one row. Bring: 4.5mm to 5mm needles

Mittens for All – Beginner

Powell, Denise - Mittens_700x676Mittens are not only essential in our climate, they are also excellent projects for new knitters. They are small, but teach a lot of techniques such as casting on, ribbing, stocking stitch, increases, decreases, 3 needle bind off and mattress stitch seam. You’ll knit the smallest size flat mitten in class, but a pattern for basic mittens from toddler to large adult is included, along with suggested variations. Pre-requisite: Able to cast-on, knit and purl. Bring: 3.75 mm needles & tapestry needle.

Easy Invisible Short Rows – Beginner

Powell, Denise - Invisible Short Rows_700x930Short rows enable you to shape your knitting to suit your own shape. Learn a simple method for making short rows both easy and invisible and never fear adding them to a garment to improve its fit. Bring: 4.5mm needles.

Dorset Buttons – All Levels

Powell, Denise - Dorset Buttons on Sweater_700x1085Frustrated in trying to find the perfect button to finish your garment? Come and learn the traditional technique of Dorset buttons applied to knitting yarns and make buttons using the yarn of the garment. This technique is also useful for crocheters. Bring: Tapestry needle, scissors, 1 to 3 (1″) diameter plastic curtain rings (available at most fabric stores) & 2.5 metres of fingering to worsted weight yarn.
