susan stortini is a glass bead artist that has been lamp working since 2001. Using glass as a media for creating mindful intent in her pieces, her work reflects a spiritual and creative approach to a very ancient art form. Initially self taught, she has studied under some of the most respected glass artists from Europe, Canada and the USA.

 

 

Lampworking: Give It a Try! (8) Beginner
Always wanted to try it? Well this is your chance to get a taste of this fabulous art form. This mini session with demo is about making your own beads. It won’t be a Picasso, but you will know if bead making is something you want to explore. As this class involves the use of an open flame, please wear 100% natural fibre (cotton), non-flammable clothing. A liability waiver must be signed to participate. Premium Fee $10 includes materials and one admission ticket.

Introduction to Glass Bead Making (8) Beginner
Come learn the basics of winding hot molten glass around a mandrel, classic bead shapes, placement of dots, pulling and using a stinger as you work on a Nortel® classic minor bench burner (a surface mix torch). Receive an overview of glass, tools, equipment and enjoy demonstrations on the use of silver foil, encasing and bead presses. Expect to take home (the next day – needs time to cool) a small amount of your own creations. As the class involves the use of an open flame, please wear 100% natural fibre (cotton), non-flammable clothing. Premium Fee $25 includes materials and one admission ticket.

susan stortini is a certified Zentangle® teacher who has been tangling since she was a young girl. She was thrilled to learn the art and its philosophical importance from the founders themselves.
