lorene salt is an award winning stitcher whose favourite medium is canvas work. When designing, she enjoys watching a piece come alive through colour and texture. She is a member of EAC, EGA and ANG.

502c3 – Canvas Work: Santa Fe (25) Beginner
This 7″ x 7″ design is stitched on white 14-count mono canvas in perle cotton, silk and metallic threads. It uses the southwest colours of turquoise and terra cotta and is inspired by shapes cut out of black construction paper and dropped onto white paper. The project is a sampler of canvas stitches which you can finish as wall art or use as a box or handbag insert. The goal – to introduce a beginner to canvas work stitches and techniques like working on the diagonal, compensation and bargello while exploring working with colour and creating texture. Bring: 12″ x 12″ stretcher bars or 10″ hoop. Kit $35

pat armour, an avid stitcher since the age of six, member of the EAC and Toronto Guild of Stitchery is drawn to all forms of needlework. She is an accomplished teacher in crewel, goldwork, appliqué and more.

503c3 – Introduction to Crewel (20) Advanced Beginner
This class is intended as an introduction to stitching with crewel wools. Come learn a variety of stitches with tips and techniques for special handling of these unique fibres, much finer than the more common tapestry wools. Receive detailed instructions for finishing this fantasy flower needle case. Experience the richness and delicate look of crewel to fully appreciate it! Prerequisite: Some surface embroidery knowledge. Bring: 4″ or 5″ hoop. Kit $20

kim beamish is presently working on her master craftsman in Counted Thread through the EGA. She has designs published in A Needle Pulling Thread and Inspirations and won 1st place in the Fabric Design Challenge sponsored by DoveStitch at the 2011 spring Creativ Festival.

504c3 – Christmas Biscornu (20) Intermediate
A biscornu is a little eightsided pincushion that has become very popular in recent years. Come stitch on linen this 4″ x 4″ x 1.5″ biscornu using cross stitch and hardanger. The lacy edge creates an old fashioned Christmas theme. Work with silk and metallic threads and embellish with gold seed beads. Pre-requisite: Must be familiar with buttonhole, cross stitch, back stitch, syrma cross, kloster and holbein, able to follow a chart & stitch over 2 threads on linen. Kit $24
