Sue Charette-Hood

Sue Charette-Hood is an award winning Canadian jewellery artist living in San Antonio, Texas who has been designing and teaching for a number of years. She works with many different jewellery medias but kumihimo and off loom bead stitching are her loves. Sue is married with two daughters and works full time as an ultrasound technologist. Sue is a member of the San Antonio Bead Society, Dallas Bead Society, Great Lakes Beading Guild and the Etsy Bead Weavers Team. She enters beading contests often as a way to challenge herself.

Sue teaches weekly at her local bead shop, Originals Gems & Beads in San Antonio and at the San Antonio Bead Society. She also teaches regularly at Texas and Louisiana Bead Retreats and local shows. She taught nationally at Beadfest Texas in October 2012 and Beadfest Santa Fe in March 2013. Sue’s work has been published by Interweave in a digital Magazine called Fabulous Peyote Stitching with Crystal Accents, in many Beadwork issues in 2012 and 2013 plus several free bead tutorial downloads on Beading Daily’s website. Several more of her pieces will be published in Beadwork magazine in 2013. Other designs have also been published in Bead Design Studio (April 2013 issue) with many more to come in late 2013. The book, Bracelets, Necklaces and Earrings due out this fall, will publish several of her jewellery pieces.

Sue creates special pieces to raise money for cancer research and other causes at events such as the annual Layne’s Legacy Beading for a Cure auction on EBay, the annual San Antonio Food Bank Harvest of Hope auction, the NIX Breast Cancer Awareness auction and for the Project Prom event for the San Antonio Child Protective Services.

Sue has taken classes from these national artists: Marcia DeCoster, Jean Campbell, Maggie Meister, Sylvie Landsdowne, Laura McCabe, Jill Wiseman, Sue Ripsch, Marilyn Gardner, Sherry Serafini and Leslee Frumin and has been inspired by many others through social media internationally. www.crystalwonders.etsy.com
