Claudia Pfeil, Award-winning internationally known quilter teaches at Creativ Festival.
Claudia Pfeil studied Design of Textiles at her local university and worked in an atelier, drawing designs for interior textiles for several years. She started her ‘career’ in teaching patchwork and quilting after her first son was born in 1992. During the first years, selling and teaching from her home. Continually students asked where to buy patchwork fabrics by her students… she thought, Ok…let’s do it! Nothing was planned, very spontaneous, just learning by doing. But creative and fulfilled with ambitions and excitement, in 1997 she opened her quilt shop, Quilt & Co. in the town of Krefeld in Germany.

As a quilt shop owner she loves to play with materials and colours and is completely addicted to the exciting world of patchwork and quilting! And, in 2005 got hooked to her APQS Millennium… her life changed after purchasing the Millennium – flying over the quilt tops while quilting – free like an eagle! Oh, but that is a different story better shared in person… with chocolates!

As a longarm-quilter, I began to play with my millennium APQS with different textures, structures and motifs like feathers and leaves. It is the fun and the ‘easy look’ which makes the quilt a quilt.
My quilts are high quality, it is the rich quilting which she loves. They are embellished in appearance, often with special threads, innovative techniques and even Swarovski crystals (some have up to 50,000 crystals!). I am completely immersed in the world of the patchwork and quilting. I have won several European, International and American prizes. My first quilt I sent to a European competition in the Netherlands in 2002. It was a Watercolor quilt, quilted on my Bernina DSM machine, it won third place in ‘Public Choice’. Maybe you have seen some of my work done on my longarm? Cordoba? Magical Mermaids Castle? Turtle Bay? Fire and Ice? Maybe Parrot’s Island?
