Vicki’s Mitts Class with Liz Tekus at Creativ Festival
These fingerless mitts focus on combining 10 different colours and textures into a charming pair of hand-warmers. Learn the art of relating fibres to each other as you acquire skills for basic finishing techniques, double pointed needles (for the thumb), whip-stitch seaming, burying ends and a review of cable cast on. You will finish one mitt in class and leave with the knowledge and the makings to complete the other. Pre-requisite: Cast on, knit & purl. Bring: Row counter, size 4 to 5mm crochet hook for weaving in ends, 6.5mm single point & dpns. Kit $18

Sarah James is only 25 and hasn’t put down her needles since the day her grandmother taught her when she was 11 years old. Driven by chaos and colour, her designs are devious and freewheeling. She enjoys inspiring knitters to knit outside of their comfort zones, delighting in mistakes and turning them into design features. www.FinePoints.com

This snappy V-neck sweater is perfect for women of ALL ages. Explore your creative side with this fun, open-ended project. Dig into your yarn bits and both Liz and Sarah will help guide you through the design and colour process. Liz’s version of this sweater features cool tones and rolled hem with three quarter length sleeves for a more traditional fit while Sarah’s version wears more like a tunic in warm tones with short sleeves. Adjust the sleeve length, colour palette and style to fit your personal taste. This project is a great intro to raglan style shaping. Learn colour placement, how to customize sweater style and add fun and whimsy into your knitting. Bring: Yarn stash of worsted weight (no scrap too small) & 3.75 to 5mm needles to obtain a gauge of 5 sts to an inch.
