Fall 2012 Conference Classes with Joan Ford

Joan Ford founded the ScrapTherapy® program in 2006 as a way to help quilters get organized and cope with the clutter of fabric collected over the years. She is an innovative quilt designer from Syracuse, NY, who is an accountant by training and prides herself on her organizational skills. Joan took her first quilting class in February of 2003, started making quilts with a vengeance and has never looked back. One of her first quilts won a blue ribbon in the New York State Fair. In the beginning she finished, quilted and bound several quilts per month. She is a finisher! Joan once received some predictive advice from a friend… ‘Save all those leftover pieces of fabric from your quilts, you may want to make a scrap quilt some day!’ She is author of ScrapTherapy®, Cut the Scraps! www.hummingbird-highway.com

When not teaching find Joan in the Country Concessions booth #613.

Scrap Therapy: Magic Carpet (25) All Levels
We’ll warm up with a brief review of the cutting techniques outlined in her book. Then we’ll use an innovative technique, some grid interfacing and a cool trimming tool to create a table runner from your scraps and a fat quarter. Master the techniques and prepare for the grand finale… a toddler size or full size quilt, both included in the pattern! Supply List & Pattern Fee $11
6 Hour Workshop

Scrap Therapy: Table Stripes Runner, Joan Ford

Scrap Therapy: Table Stripes Runner, Joan Ford

Scrap Therapy: Table Stripes Runner (25) All Levels
Using Joan’s method from her book, create this fast and easy runner, a perfect way of using up small scraps and leftover striped border fabric. Consider holiday or seasonal prints for a festive table setting. Since the backing is not pieced, the border stripe width determines how many scraps are needed for the runner centre. No one will know you’re serving up leftover fabrics to dress up your centrepiece. Supply List & Pattern Fee $11 (not needed if you bring the book ScrapTherapy®, Cut the Scraps!)
3 Hour Workshop

Class registration will begin in late July 2012. Watch for updates on our blog for when brochure details become available and registration begins. www.creativfestival.ca
